A Big Weekend -
This last weekend Amber, Tristan and I went to Houston to see our very good Friends, Marney and Kristen Mason and their daughter Charlotte. We had lofty plans of leaving in the morning on Friday, but after I got the oil changed in the car and fixed one of the front lights we stuck around and ate lunch at home and got on the road around 2:00.
The traveling was good, Tristan slept most of the time and didn't rustle until we were just outside of Houston. We pulled over at a truck stop and I read my book while Amber took care of business in the back of the van. Really glad we have that tinted glass!
Friday night we spent with the Mason's. We went out to eat and Tristan took to his first restaurant like a bear does to hibernation i.e. he slept the entire time. The stay at the hotel in Houston was nice and the new environment didn't phase him.
The next day we drove down to Texas city for Heather Curran's wedding. The Curran's are family friends of the Labrecque's. We dressed Tristan up in his "dress" outfit that was complete with bonnet, but I wasn't going to subject my son to public embarrassment by making him wear a bonnet. But we did take a picture that we will use in the PowerPoint presentation when he gets married! (at that point anything goes)
The wedding was very nice and the reception was at a little oasis type joint on the outskirts of Texas City. They had a DJ at the wedding that was under this big white tent. The DJ had a set of lights that had moving mirrors so the lights went all around on the ground and the ceiling of the tent. Tristan really got a kick out of watching the lights. It was a little late for him to be up, but we were hoping for a good nights sleep!
On Sunday we packed up the car and headed back to Houston to have lunch with the Masons and spend a little more time with them before we head back to Austin. We got into town around 7:00. After I returned from picking up Annie (our dog) from my parent's house we had a nice glass of wine and watched our Sunday TV shows.
